Healing Energy Bodywork

Richard Porter began developing this understanding and method with his business, Healing Energy. In the mid late 1980’s he went to a startup promotion of the CT  spiritual, metaphysical, publication The Door Opener. There he met Joan Clark, owner of a small metaphysical shop and bodywork business, Earth Gateways. They became fast colleagues and partnered up with Healing Gateways. She helped him enhance and teach H.E.B. 

Richard had a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, was trained to monitor Floatation Tanks, and had a limited background in bodywork. He built his style on bodywork methods such as Reichian Bodywork, developed by Wilhelm Reich who was a student of Sigmund Freud, Reich is credited as one of the grandfathers of looking at how trauma is stored in the body and can create illnesses. Richard took that into the eastern concept of energy blockages, applied them to the psychological mind-body connection and the effect on processing emotions. 

Joan barely saw physical form. She saw the bioenergy aura and colors. She worked for years as a registered nurse and had worked in every department. She was certified in Therapeutic Touch among other bodywork methods. She had a powerful intuition and was called in on cold case investigations to see if she could get information. She had a high success rate. Through all of this she learned to interpret colors with pathology, emotions and meaning.

There was no one bodywork method or energy matrix they stuck too. Where Richard used heavy, deep compressive holds in most instances, Joan used gentle rocking and soothing brushes. It is an open style bodywork method. Listen to the client’s body. Learning and practicing in this manner, I was able to explore hands on work from a completely empathic point of view and, as Joan and Richard, develop my own bodywork style. 

Over the course of 10 years with thousands of clients, Richard realized that Joan could see the energy of a hand stroke in her clients’ bodies. He would duplicate and get feedback. He then began to put them into sequences creating full body sensations that Joan could see. This is where Energetic Matrix Alignment began.
